RIVET

Terms of Use

Last updated 6 October 2026

The short version. RIVET comes from the Microsoft Store under Microsoft's standard licence, and we don't add to it. Pro is a one-off purchase; Microsoft handles payment and refunds. RIVET only changes your PC when you confirm, and it tells you when something can't be undone. Your rights as a consumer are never affected.

1. Who we are

RIVET and RIVET XP are made by William Edward Kirby, trading as Kirby Systems, in the United Kingdom. Contact: [email protected].

2. Getting the apps

RIVET and RIVET XP are distributed only through the Microsoft Store. Your licence to use them is Microsoft's Standard Application License Terms; Kirby Systems does not add terms to that licence. Downloads from anywhere else are not from us.

3. Free, trial and Pro

4. Changes RIVET makes to your PC

RIVET can change your system when you tell it to: stop services, end processes, change Windows settings, disable startup apps and delete cache files.

5. The on-device assistant

Ask RIVET's answers are generated by a language model running on your own PC, so they can be wrong. RIVET shows the readings an answer is based on and never lets the model make a change on its own. Don't rely on an answer alone for anything important. You can report a bad answer from inside the app.

6. Privacy

How RIVET handles data is set out in the Privacy Policy. In short: no account, no telemetry, no ads, and the only internet connection RIVET makes is the optional one-off model download.

7. Liability

We make RIVET carefully, but we can't promise it will be error-free or suit every PC. To the extent the law allows, Kirby Systems is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by changes you chose to make, and our total liability to you for anything else is limited to the amount you paid for RIVET Pro.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under UK law, and nothing here takes away your statutory rights as a consumer.

8. This website

You may read, link to and share this site. Please don't copy its design, text or screenshots to pass off another product as RIVET. RIVET and the RIVET logo are trademarks of Kirby Systems. Links to other sites (the Microsoft Store, GitHub, itch.io) are there for convenience; we don't control them.

9. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version will be published here with a new date. Changes don't apply retroactively to a purchase you've already made.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you also keep the protections of your local consumer law.
